When I woke up this morning, the coffee was waiting for me. Nine minutes after I had my first sip of coffee, I had toast (with peanut butter). Twenty minutes after that, I took a hot shower. Ten minutes after that, I put on clean clothes and got in my car and drove to work. I do these things every day without as much as a second thought.
500 years ago (when Igantius was a kid) these conveniences were reserved for the noble, the wealthy, the privileged. Today, I’m invited to see my privilege as an invitation to be generous (this word has its roots in the idea of nobility). Regardless of how I give (forward, back, or sideways), the Gospel challenges me to give. To give and not count the costs.
So, as you wake up this morning, consider giving to Xavier’s #GivingTuesday, December 3rd (all day)! Your donation will make a student’s dream a reality!
