Blessed Miguel Pro

Miguel grew up in Mexico and entered as a Jesuit novitiate in El Llano, Michoacán. He was forced to flee to the United States, when a strong anti- Catholic movement swept through Mexico. After his ordination in Belgium he returned to Mexico to assist the poor. He has to disguise himself to avoid recognition and was falsely accused of a bombing attempt. Pro was sentenced to death without trial, and his last words were “Viva Cristo Rey” meaning long live Christ the King.
